IT’S YOUR CHOICE, AS IT WAS HIS CHOICE !!
AS FOR ME AND MY HOUSE, I CHOOSE TO SERVE THE LORD.
Joshua 24:15
Although important, this article is not about your rights over reproduction. That’s small potatoes compared to what Jesus has done for us.
When Jesus was put in jail by Pontius the crowd was given a choice – they can have Jesus back or they can have a murderer named Barabbas released back into their society. Barabbas supposedly killed someone, Jesus did not.
Barabbas was a sinner, Jesus was not.
The crowd chose the sinner over the pure righteous carpenter who proved He was the Son of God.
Pontius yelled out to the crowd, ‘What shall I do with this man called Jesus?’
Stirred up into a frenzy with the help of the jealous priests that were threatened by the truth that Jesus taught, the crowd cheered for Jesus to be crucified.
He didn’t do anything wrong to anyone. Never hurt a fly. Didn’t seduce any wives or daughters.
Didn’t keep any money. He didn’t even slander any of the sinners that he often dined with.
So why did the crowd want him dead so badly, that they chose to let a murderer on the loose again?
They preferred sin. So did the priests, comfortable in their self-righteous wealth and status. They thought Jesus was too radical, too bright for their world reveling in whatever the fun sin was of the day. (And none of that is new.)
They identified more with a condemned fool named Barabbas over a pure and sinless Savior.
We are given that choice today too.
We can choose to be redeemed into an eternal and supernatural peace of mind and heart and spirit.
Or we can enjoy our short-lived sin, and deal with the many consequences, lying to ourselves that it doesn’t matter. Anything goes for all sorts of people, right?
The same ‘anything goes’ sin makes this world a very confusing and stressful place, so much that people kill themselves to be over it, sometimes even rich celebrities.
And others revel in it to joyfully hurt others in all sorts of ways for power, often claiming it’s from a labeled mental instability so (they think) there’s no accountability. (John 3:19) They are foolishly wrong. Many think that the Jesus they know hung out with sinners like them and accepted them as they are, like a hippie-style Jesus they invented.
No, the REAL Son of God -Jesus the Christ – spent time with the sinners to call them to redemption, (Luke 19:7-10) not to give a shrug on the back and a wink with a peace sign and a joint to keep on sinning.
Right in the beginning of time and people -amidst total Paradise – God had also called us to make a choice to obey and follow Him – yet we still chose disobedience.
Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began. (2Timothy 1:9)
Then God gave us a 2nd chance – Jesus the Sacrificed Lamb – to redeem us. (1John 4:10) And we had Him crucified.
What does that say about the human race? We love our sin and don’t deserve to be saved. (2 Timothy 3:9) But He loves us that much that He will forgive and redeem those who truly, whole-heartedly repent and follow him in the name of Jesus! (John 3:17-18)
Right now, Jesus is calling us to a new birth and eternal life with Him, (John 3:3) pointing at the signs of this late hour- and He will call up his own soon. He wants you be free of your sinful life with the suffering and hopelessness. But he doesn’t force it or push you against your will.
You do have that choice to make!
So – what is your choice?
Jesus the Living Savior or the world?
It’s one or the other and it’s getting late!! There will come a day when it’s TOO LATE!
Repent and ask Jesus to be your savior today!
